Gráinne Duffy – Test of Time (2012)

Posted on May 1, 2012 in Blues,Rock by

Test Of Time is Irish singer songwriter Grainne Duffy’s second album and showcases her roots in blues, soul and Celtic music. Going from the soft rock of Everyday and What More Can I Do to the gritty blues rock of the grinding Rockin’ Rollin’ Stone and the churning rocker Please Take Care, there is one constant; her husky vocal. This will bring comparisons to Maggie Bell and Bonnie Raitt and neither is out of place. If you throw in the sultry, soulful Sweet Sweet Baby and the eponymous title track, which has Tom Petty style guitar sounds then you have most of what Grainne is about. However, she can do a ballad too as shown by the emotional closer, In My Arms.

Another Destiny Project is a group of musicians from Italy of which Peter Pahor (guitar) is the main man. Pahor – some of you might know him from bands like Miss Night and Heat – is responsible for all the songwriting and the production of this self released album. Pahor approached singer Federico Ahrens – he knew him from the local metal scene – to join him and start a new project. A project in which metal should organically be combined with industrial metal, progmetal and yet also cinematic music should not be forgotten. And so it happened: in December 2011 this album was recorded and this year the band started to promote the album worldwide.
