Tony Frye – Ravenswood 2012
Blending influences from all over the musical spectrum, but mostly British invasion bands, Tony Frye’s debut record is a simple good time without all the pretension and snootiness of many modern pop acts.
DUSTIN BONZ – DUSTIN BONZ 1994
This band hails from New York and they released this album in microscopic numbers over 20+ years ago on their own label. A true undiscovered hair metal treasure where each song is infectious, especially the track, “Sunday Morning” as it reminds of a song that wold be on the Mr. Lucky or Wildboyz.
Pretty Wild Planet – Pretty Wild Planet 1992
Extremely rare indie release from 1992. The band hails from Dallas, Texas and they play an eclectic mix of 90s Hard Rock and Metal with alternative, folk and prog elements, similar in style to Wild Animals. This is an unknown inide that was released on their own label over 23+ years ago. Not many of these are floating around.
The Buddy System – The Buddy System 1988
The Buddy Syster were a Boston based rock outfit formed in the mid 80s playing a mixture of melodic rock and pop tunes with new wave edge. In 1986 they released the single “Go Back To Hollywood” with lots of airplay that help them to gain a contract with Chameleon Records for their self-titled debut album of 1988.
HYPER – ACTIVE 1985
Clinton, Iowa based trio Hyper release this album back in 1985 privately in extremely limited copies with songs varies between hard rock and metal, featuring superlative guitar and drumming. Lots of talent, good production and arrangements, a good find for your collection in the vein of Kingsuite and Grey C. Allen. In 1995 the band released “The Happy Bottom Riding Club” having old and new recordings while the song “Ride the Pony” played in the movie “The Ice Harvest”.
