Germany ANDROMEDA ZOO will release their latest EP digitally only. Nevertheless, ‘The Stonewashed’ at times sounds less up to date than its predecessor. Nonetheless, the lyric themes of greed and obsession (‘The Riddle Of Gold’), deep friendship (‘thinghy’) and manic dark seduction (‘red scythe magnetism’) are well suited to the zeitgeist.

The Good Goddamns have taken their best material and put it into a 5-song back-to-back rock assault. Last Call (EP) is the The Good Goddamns debut effort, and sets the tone with its title track, and first single. From there it doesn’t let up, from the head banger “No Encore” to the heavy groove of the EP’s finale “Blackout”. The Good Goddamns aim to live up to their name, and while Last Call may be the title, this is only the beginning for a band with big goals and sound to match them.

I discovered this album from some encylopedia of heavy metal published in 1983. Revolver were a band of German musicians (try to ignore the revolver-shaped guitars) and an Afro-American female vocalist with a fine set of pipes. The album was produced by metal legend Dieter Dierks.
