With the new demo, they applied to the Oxmox band competition. MADHOUSE prevailed over 800 bands and qualified for the final round of the competition (final), which took place in September 1989 in the “Great Freedom 36”.

Erika – Deaf, Dumb & Blonde 2016
Erika was born on a cold winter night in Skelleftea, Sweden where she started her own band at just 12 years old. As a teenager she relocated to Stockholm where she started to write and record demos with various rock bands. In the late 1980’s she dated and later married guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. In 1989 Erika was offered her first deal for a record, which was called “Cold Winter Night”, an album she co-wrote which proved to be a resounding success.

They struggled along without a vocalist for awhile before hooking up with Brit sensation Lee Small, whom Riise had worked with in the past. Now they bring their debut album, Cold Silence, on Escape Music. There seems to be a seasonal theme to Riise’s efforts.
