Groundstar – Forced Landing (1979)
GROUNDSTAR certainly need no introduction here. Their almost legendary cult status has permeated music websites and mags, and perplexed music fans, for many years with their super rare and elusive original 1978/1980 (re-issue) “Forced Landing” vinyl record fetching untold prices worldwide.
Mystery – 2013 (2013)
MYSTERY is an Australian bunch of very young blokes… They can’t barely play even to save their lives and the strategic marketing trick is too big and flagrant to me. Sorry, I would love to say something positive about their album “2013” but I can’t. Nobody can accuse me, with credibility, of being harsh with the young and adolescents wave of Metal groups, mainly because I was always more than friendly,
Freeway Mad – Dangerous 2015 EP
Freeway Mad are a brand new young British Hard Rock band that harkens the classic NWOBHM sound of bands like Tygers of Pan Tang , UFO , Highway Chile , Fastway and Stampede. Fiery axework and catchy hooks galore.
Hard Attack – Hard Attack 2013
First time ever on cd for 80s AOR act HARD ATTACK!! These songs were all recorded between 1984 & 1989 and there is some top quality Melodic Rock on offer here. Led by the unique vocals of Winton Fenderson and rounded out by lush keyboards , tasty axework and a solid rhythm section , I believe AOR fans around the world will find a lot to like about these long lost tracks.
Southern Cross Band – Last Plane To Dixie (A Tribute) 2007
“Featuring the re-release of their 2007 CD “Last Plane to Dixie” (A Tribute) to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Available now on I-tunes and many other online retailers.
Ironclad – Metal Monster 1993
Following their tenure in the excellent Pennsylvania-based melodic hard rock band “PYRAMID” (and 2 killer releases available here at Retrospect!) , bassist extraordinaire Steve Kessler and guitar virtuoso Victor Chiarella split lead vocal duties and formed IRONCLAD.
Sam Alex – Believe 2016 EP
This rare 3 track mini album was privately produced and released in Germany by Samha Records. Alex Asu Samha (Sam Alex) and guitarist Bobby Altvater (ex Cinnamon, Slappy White, Affair and many others) have put together an awesome AOR mini album.
ALDO NOVA – Twitch [2018 Reissue]
“Twitch” perfectly represents what ’80s AOR is all about. It was out of print in Europe for many years, and it was time for a reissue, not remastered, but very well taken from the master tapes with a punchy output. This AOR masterpiece has been hiding in the shadows for far too long.
Rude – Touch It! (1992)
This is friggin’ fantastic, one of the best melodic hard rock indies to be discovered in Canada in a long, long time. It’s got touches of Signal, Slyboyz, Harem Scarem, Wild Ride, and bands of that nature, bands that are very melodic with good hooks and slick harmony vocals.
