“Desolation Angels” had me pining for the world we knew almost 40 years ago. These are fresh, feminine remakes of popular songs from the late 60s – early 70s, plus (I think) a couple of originals. Standouts are “Just Walk Away Renee”, worth it just for the ethereal Roches backing vocals, “Only the Lonely” with strong vocal by Deborah Berg, and “Something in the Air”. “White Bird” is a bit weak, but they deserve credit for even trying.

After a wonderful debut album (IS THIS A COOL WORLD OR WHAT) on Epic/CBS records, multitalented performer Karla DeVito’s second album was over-produced in Los Angeles by people who didn’t quite get her personality. While the production somewhat overpowers her playful good humor, this is still, another KARLA DeVITO album, and it’s well worth having because of her.
