Nemo – Emotional Metastasis – 2025, MP3+FLAC
Featured in exclusive at here, “Emotional Metastasis” is the just released debut album from Bulletproof‘s lead vocalist & guitarist Nemanja Stojanovic new band NEMO. Yeah, a quick look at the album cover art and you guess this is ’80s-style music, in this case, melodic hard rock with lots of melodious guitars, huge vocals, and cool synths here and there.
v
Nemanja is basically a guitarist, and the six-string swirls are all over the record. He is strongly influenced by Ronni LeTekro and Kee Marcello – it’s a pleasure to hear that heavy yet perfectly clean guitar sound in Nemanja, a clever and imaginative axeman in the arrangements.
Lead vocalist Lorenzo Vincenzo Nocerino is a revelation as well, a powerful singer able to reach a high register as well, with a vocal color reminiscent of Tony Harnell… the result on “Emotional Metastasis”? Darn, this sounds a lot like ’80s TNT, think ‘Tell No Tales’ / ‘Intuition’ era.
And the songs? All are very good, biting, with punch, really well recorded & produced. Yeap, NEMO’s “Emotional Metastasis” is one of the surprises of the year
As example, “Hard Enough” is a crunchy hard rocker that seems composed in Norway circa 1987, leading into the more atmospheric “Anywhere Anytime”, a great and different midtempo track with Nocerino subduing the vocal dynamics a little, and featuring superb sax playing from IB Delight, giving the song a unique feeling.
“Lady” is not the ballad that might be gleaned from its title, but an uptempo guitar / synth-led AOR track that made me think of TNT meets Y&T for some odd reason. The album closes with Nocerino replaced on vocal duties by a guest male singer called Daler whose plaintive but passionate delivery is a refreshing alternative to what has gone before, and is augmented by Neemias Teixeira’s piano work on this extremely pretty slow tune.
The production is crystal clear and Nemanjo Stojanovic’s guitar is passionate and often scintillating which, let’s face it, it really should be on what is clearly his personal project. Danko Stojanovic on bass and the excellent Glenn Welmann on drums provide a solid, often brilliant, rhythm section.
As already mentioned, Lorenzo Vincenzo Nocerino can certainly sing with a fantastic ’80s vibe and hit those falsetto highs that make the songs so special.
Fans of 80s Scandinavian style melodic hard can’t miss “Emotional Metastasis”.
Highly Recommended
