Scandal, Pat Benatar, Heart… if you love the 80s-chicks-with-attitude and the music these female fronted bands delivered, you’ll love TORONTO, some kind of Canada’s answer to the Wilson sisters Heart, combining the distinct vocal color of singer Holly Woods and female guitarist / songwriter Sheron Alton.

Other key member of Toronto was guitarist Brian Allen who wrote most the songs, an experienced musician previously member of the band Rose who released a string a solid albums in the Seventies. More talented Canadians like Jim Vallance and Stan Meissner were also involved in Toronto albums.
As requested, here’s TORONTO ”The Greatest Hits”, originally released in the ’80 after the group disbanded – this is the CD remastered reissue including an extra song not previously featured – their version of “What About Love” (penned by Alton / Allen / Vallance), later a hit for Heart in 1985.

This collection spans their 1979-1984 albums, with a variety of styles from a radio-friendly new wave rock&pop vibe to a melodic rock sound to an even harder rock feel. Fantastic vocals, melodies and harmonies make Toronto one of the undiscovered treasures of the ’80s.
If you already have all Toronto’s albums, then don’t hesitate to pick up this collection for the tracks “Andrea” and “Me Generation”, which are not on any of their albums. These are top quality Toronto tracks and could easily have been featured in any early ’80s teen flick.
A very enjoyable radio-friendly set of songs with a deliberate set of melodic riffs, super-vocals and keyboard pounce, boldly dictating Toronto’s melodic rock sound.
