TUSH – Thunder Road (2025), MP3+FLAC
Fresh out of Sweden, classic hard rock band TUSH explodes onto the scene with “Thunder Road”, their debut album that’s pure rock n’ roll fury with a soul full of inspiration. Starting as a solo project from singer / songwriter Daniel Lantz, the vision for TUSH has grown into a full-fledged band. It now features a powerhouse lineup with heavy hitters like drummer Ludwig Witt, guitarist virtuoso Noah Söderberg, and bassist Jonas Snäckmark.
TUSH surprises with its pure, anthemic classic-era rock and roll sound.
Based in Halmsted, Sweden, TUSH carry their influences on their sleeves, but even some 30-40 years later, Tush makes classic rock, glam and hard rock from the 70s & 80s sound fresh, exciting, and as good as new.
As example, there’s absolutely nothing to make you not think the song ‘Sweet Temptation’ is just a product of 1988 Aerosmith. TUSH are incredibly loyal to their true colors, and are astoundingly convincing in displaying them. The riffs themselves sound easy and familiar, making ‘Sweet Temptation’ lighthearted, and a breezy song to power through. With confident and restrained vocals that convey a blend that is more in the vein of Hendrix or Morrison than Tyler or Snyder, Daniel Lantz is surely balancing the sound of the song, giving it a slightly more old school vibe.
‘Dreamers’ blends high-energy melodies with a lively rock atmosphere, appealing to both seasoned rock fans and newcomers. The intro reminds me of Seventies arena rock and we love the mood of the song, very enjoyable thanks also to a great and simple production / arrangement, very rare nowadays – and with fantastic vocals, dynamic and precise rhythm section and inspired guitars.
With a sound that drips with an undeniably addictive charisma, ‘Glamorous Girl’ continues to prove that classic rock is just as relevant now as it was in the 70s and 80s, and that it has no business whatsoever being called “Classic”.
The confident pace, its simple and elegant bluesy riff with its balanced and colorful tone, and the restrained bass are all signs of a band that knows and understands restraint, and this restraint plays a core role in delivering the song’s unique and charming identity across. The vocals are gripping and are masterfully performed, again with just terrific restraint. Tush are displaying a sublime level of musicianship with ‘Glamorous Girl’.
Infectious, catchy, and cool, these Swedish rockers succeed in bringing us a really good slice of classic rock n’ roll with this debut album. Each instrument works together to create a powerful and driving soundscape. The focus is on raw energy, catchy riffs, bouncy drums, and passionate vocals, all wrapped by fun.
