TAKAYOSHI OHMURA (feat Göran Edman, Mark Boals, Tim “Ripper” Owens) – Angels In The Dark [Japan only release] (2020), MP3+FLAC

As requested, here’s the Japan-only CD “Angels In The Dark” by virtuoso electric guitarist TAKAYOSHI OHMURA. Member of BabyMetal and many other projects, OHMURA find some time for solo releases too. And while solo, the musician feels free to show his love for 80’s U.S. metal / hard rock, and alongside some killer instrumental songs, he call famous American / European singers from the genre to stamp their pipes into his songs.

We already posted at a previous TAKAYOSHI OHMURA solo album featuring the lead vocals of Terry Ilous, Ted Poley & Doogie White.
“Angels In The Dark” follows the same fashion, but this time the impressive lead singers are no less than Göran Edman, Mark Boals, Tim “Ripper” Owens, and Daniel Heiman (Lost Horizon). Additionally this time OHMURA brought country fellow Atsushi Kuze (Concerto Moon) to lay down his voice too on a couple of tracks.
This is a pretty killer collection rocking guitar-driven songs filled with catchy melodies, top class vocals, and a skilled song-structure inspired by ’80s hard rock / metal style. We find a few instrumental tracks as well, melodic and focused.

TAKAYOSHI is especially eclectic and creative with his approach, the execution is flawless. There’s many influences in his playing from Blackmore & Yngwie to George Lynch, something you can enjoy on the instrumental tracks.
However the winners here are the songs with vocals, heavy melodic tunes with punch.
