WARRANT – Rockaholic [Japanese Edition + Deluxe bonus tracks], MP3+FLAC

After they experienced almost everything as Rock stars, including the rise and decline of the Glam Metal scene, experience in making a Grunge oriented album, the leaving of the powerhouse singer Jani Lane and his replacement Jamie St. James of Black N’ Blue, and the decision to break up and unite once again… not much had to be expected from WARRANT circa the beginning of this Century’s second decade.

How will the band find a new singer that would fit the big shoes of Jani Lane? Robert Mason was the answer. An experienced cat with LYNCH MOB, BIG COCK, CRY OF LOVE, etc, with the right attitude and the balls for the job.
The result was this comeback album “Rockaholic” from 2011, a rocking album mixing classic ’80s Warrant riffs like in bombastic opener ‘Sex Ain’t Love’, with a bluesy hard rock punch in ‘Dusty’s Revenge’ not far from comrades TORA TORA.
This rare ”Rockaholic [Japanese Edition]” includes a bonus track, but the band later released by themselves a ‘Deluxe Edition’ including re-recordings of ‘Cherry Pie’ & ‘Down Boys’ with Mason on lead vocals, so we added these as extra.
It’s obvious that for this album WARRANT and Mason took a new approach to their song structures, and works very well. Actually LYNCH MOB fans will enjoy this one too because of Mason’s voice and the guitar delivery.

In 2011 WARRANT easily could have look for a Jani Lane clone and become a Greatest Hits dinosaur. Instead they recruited a great singer, updated their songwriting & sound adding a classic bluesy melodic hard rock feel, and jumped into the arena again.
“Rockaholic” really rocks and for a total of 14 tracks you have plenty to cheer about. Hats off to WARRANT to move forward and release a killer record with a very capable lead singer.
