Brian Wilson’s Sunday performance on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury on June 26, 2005 is considered a “classic moment” or even a “wonderful day” in the history of the festival. The beautiful sunny weather created the perfect backdrop for his music, turning a muddy field into a golden Californian beach. Festival founder Michael Eavis once called the performance one of the greatest in Glastonbury history, calling it “a truly magical moment.” It wasn’t just a concert; it was like a collective release of emotion and a shared pilgrimage to beautiful music. Following the death of Beach Boys co-founder and legendary musician Brian Wilson on 11 June 2025, the BBC has announced that it will be honouring his 2005 Glastonbury performance with a tribute broadcast on Friday 13 June at 9pm on BBC Four and iPlayer. The channel’s schedule for the evening will be changed to reflect this, with Tom Jones’ BBC performance, originally scheduled to air at that time, being moved to 10.15pm.
