Sin‘ Sound – From The Underground 2012
Sios – Halcyon Failure 2012
now!
An Art Rock band with an epic, fictional concept that serves as the backdrop to their musical landscape.
SIOS looks to break barriers and leave their mark in and beyond the music world. The band is made up of four self-taught individuals who go above and beyond to create an eclectic world; not only through their music, but also through the fictional concept they have created to serve as the backdrop to their sound. During an uncertain period in his life, lead guitarist Christian “Enigma” Cruz decided to reach out to former guitar student and band mate Phillip “Dice” Defreitas, to begin a new band with the goal of reaching millions of people and sharing their unique ideas with the world. Through this common idea, rhythm guitarist and former band mate April “Ape”

mixture of different sonic time periods, “There and Back Again” combines the melodic bass lines of the 70’s and 80’s, the pulsating drum beats of 90’s punk rock and a guitar and vocal style similar to bands like Death Cab for Cutie and The Smiths.

Brand new album from Kory Clarke and Warrior Soul – SMF also features very special guest guitar players – John Ricco (former Warrior Soul guitarist) and Mark Gemini Thwaite (The Mission/Mob Research/Peter Murphy – Bahaus). Warrior Soul released a string of classic political rock n’ roll albums starting with Last Decade Dead Century (’90), Drugs, God and the New Republic (‘91), Salutations from the Ghetto Nation (’92) and Chill Pill (’93).
After forming the Space Age Playboys and releasing two solo albums Clarke has remained as venomous, aggressive and politically motivated as ever on Destroy The War Machine (’09) and now this new offering ‘Stiff Middle Finger’ KC – “We are really looking forward to seeing everyone on this tour. This is going to rock like crazy with new blood and fists pumping against corporate tyranny, bullshit wars, and lying dead religions. Our power will once again be felt and our rumble heard across the land!”

Any one of those words can be used to describe his technique. The nickname has been with him since the late 70’s when he was working in one of his first sessions (fusion was big at that time), and it called for some fast guitar work. The keyboard player listened to him play and immediately nicknamed him ‘Rocket”. The name was self-apparent and it stuck. His family name, Ritchotte (pronounced Ri-shot) is French-Canadian Indian, descendants of the Cree Indians.

The guys hit the road in support of the album and the rave reviews for the live show started arriving:
Classic Rock: “Vega won over the crowd with anthems punchier than a Croydon hen party after a crate of Bacardi Breezers”
Fireworks: “I was transfixed by the quality of what I was hearing and seeing….”
Powerplay: “10/10 the band of the weekend”
Rhys Marsh And The Autumn Ghost -The Blue Hour 2012
now!
I am a huge fan of 60?s and 70?s progressive rock and I also have a special place in my heart for experimental folk. Something about these styles of music captures my imagination and interest. Perhaps it’s the sense of total and utter creative freedom that these artists seem to exude. Perhaps it’s the wealth of instruments and tones used. In the end, however, it doesn’t really matter as I can just sit back and truly enjoy this music.

TODAY!
Clearly, Orange County’s Sixstep marches to their own beat, wherever that beat may come from. They call their sound “comprehensive rock,” whatever the what for that means. House of Cards, their second album I think (much of their information is sketchy and obtuse), rolls together elements of classic rock with portions of ska, reggae, jazz, and blues in what can only be considered eclectic.
