Pompei Nights – Rise 2012 (single)
now
While there are a lot of modern sleaze-metal bands evolving out of Sweden, quite a few of them only manage to release a couple of demos before fading away into obscurity after a couple of years. Pompei Nights obviously didn’t want to go down that path, and after only two years of existence they release their full-length debut Rather Die Than Livin’ In Boundaries through Street Symphonies Records.

NOW!
Watching Gothenburg-based SPIDERS’ video clip for “Hang Man” (available below) and all those things happening in such a tiny attic, I was stocked; these guys surely know how bluesy Retro Rock should sound, dealing with the perfect portions of Punk and, of course, psychedelia (the Orange amps in the background surely give a hint to the potential listener). So, what is Swedes’ music about leaving aside the enticing wrapping paper (including Ann-Sofie’s GIRLSCHOOL-esque vocal skills/beauty)?

MICHAEL ADDISON – Blinding Shadows 2012
NOW!
Michael Addison is set to release his first full-length album “Blinding Shadows” on October 2nd, 2012. Reeling from the success he garnered from his last EP “Always You” and the single of the same name, he hit the studio with producer Larry Marciano at the helm, to create a truly powerful rock album that magnifies Addison’s talent for rock arrangements. Addison returned to the studio with the same team from his previous go-round. Christine Wu (Justin Timberlake/Usher) and Ryan Hoyle (Collective Soul), as well as newcomers, vocalist’s Adam Brooks (of TV’s “The Lying Game” and the band The Good Mad) and Vanessa Bryan each exhibit exceptional contributions.

NOW!
Hailing from Springfield, Massachusetts, Doug Ratner & the Watchmen’s main claim to fame is getting banned from a popular TV show, Mass Appeal, in their hometown, for their song Bomb in the Backseat. It appears the show neither listened to the song nor understood it’s meaning. They only heard the references to bombs and explosions. O well.Ratner and company play a blend of classic guitar rock with some modern alt references. Here’s the skinny on their debut EP Lessons Well Learned. First, if you give it more than a few spins, it will grow on you. But the significant songs are three.

TODAY!
Long Island based Como Brothers seem a little conflicted on their new EP, The Speed of Sound. Sandwiched between the positive chick songs You Are My World and Can I Be Matched With You is a nearly vitriolic rant against an unfortunate gal, I Don’t Like You.
I’m hoping, maybe, that first song is about one of the brother’s pet dog or infant daughter, and the last about online dating services, as one Como bro seems pretty pissed about some chick. Otherwise, The Como Brothers Band is about some very good music. It has a foundation of classic melodic rock, with a touch of blues, and enough alt-indie edge to make the hipsters take notice. It’s nearly raw,
