Preachers, the sophomore release from Austin’s My Jerusalem has the rather dark and sinister theme going on in the background. Founder and singer Jeff Klein (ex-Gutter Twins, The Twilight Singers) describes it as the Post-Modern Southern Gothic Soul album surrounded by beautiful, comforting, darkness. It’s real, not selfish, according to the mad hatter and Klein’s baritone vocals are ever so moody and emotionally black.

So does anybody still remember Anouk from the 90s? The female alternative rock/pop icon whose chart-topping megahit “Nobody’s Wife” was all the rage back in ’97-98? Those that do should namely find remarkable similarity in how Anouk sounded on her debut “Together Alone” and how Danish rockers Stella Blackrose sound on their sophomore album “Death & Forever”. Perhaps not so much instrumentally, given that Stella Blackrose have a distinctly heavier hard rock / alternative rock soundscape in comparison, but there’s just no way of going around how much vocalist Rebecca Lou Armstrong sounds like Anouk during her pissed off days. We’re talking a female singer with an attitude and the kind of far-reaching power in her pipes to front a rock band, which has always been a rare feat for any female vocalist and the reason why there are so few successful female fronted rock bands around.

There’s much to like about this little band from the boondocks of Idyllwild, California. Throw The Goat offers a blend of punk, stoner, and heavy rock in a rather intriguing package with Black Mountain. It’s like a mash up of Ramones, Motorhead, and maybe some Kyuss.But, ultimately, I think Throw The Goat simply wants to be a good rock band. Nostalgia is a great up and coming metal band on the scene. They have a terrific sound with a bold message that comes through loud and clear in every one of their rockin’ original songs. This debut is a must have for any collector that enjoys the rock and metal genre. This will not disappoint, but it’s an album you will want to play over and over again!

Now I shall give me at, to review one Unsigned bands. One of thousands who are in our country. They like: play, write songs and perform just for fun. Enough is surely the dream to break through at all. But that’s not the main thing, the important thing is to have fun. One can honestly did not examine these bands, just like the band that has unlimited studio time and with a budget that is 6 or 7-digit. How will my review.  This band, from Sundsvall / BispgÃ¥rden I came by chance into contact with and I can say that I do not regret. Musically, it sounds very much the late 70’s, up until the mid 80s.

As a reviewer you do your utmost not to be biased (whether for or against) but when I read that Holy Dragons were from Kazakhstan, I couldn’t help being a tad sceptical. I mean how good can a Kazakh Metal band be? Quite good, as it turns out.Holy Dragons’ music seems trapped in an era when dinosaurs ruled the earth, those dinosaurs having names such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Weapon. Decidedly old-school material therefore but Holy Dragons have managed to put together some solid Heavy Metal that can still be enjoyed even when the novelty factor wears off.
