X POINT ENEMY – State Of The Art 2011
“The phone rang and on the other side of the handset, it was a band from sölvesborgwho wanted to book two weekends to record an album. Coming from (Sweden Rock Festival’s hometown) and book a total of 40 hours for an album is probably the most daring thing I’ve been through in my life. they ignored my suggestion to book 4 weekends entirely, and we rigged up and ran. Said and done, 40 hours and a couple of beers later, they packed up their stuff in a car and drove home. they havecompletely completely disproved and shown me the other Pro-Tools copy / paste world how you should lira real rock n roll. specifically – Heavyweight Rock n Roll. Rig up and run!the result is amazing good! ”

Pontus Snibb 3 is a new power trio formed by vocalist and guitarist Pontus Snibb of outstanding hard rockers Bonafide. He’s backed up by Backdraft’s rhythm section, Mats Rydstrom (bass) and Niklas Matsson (drums). If you have any knowledge of either Bonafide or Backdraft, you’ll have some inclination to what PS3 has to offer. Loud Feathers offers gritty, old school, hard rock with more than a little touch of blues. Recorded over a mere three days, the songs were cut nearly live with few overdubs. While the production is smooth, you can hear the essential raw energy in the performances. PS3 is helped in the studio by friends Conny Bloom (Electric Boys), Ralf Gyllenhammar (Mustasch), and Mats Ronander on harmonica (he played with ABBA; yeah, you read that right).

Hangfire‘s claim to fame if you will is that former Tigertailz drummer Matt Blakout is a member of the band. Although if you are looking for the type of outrageous glam that Tigertailz are known for you are going to be extremely disappointed with Shoot The Crow. If anything, Hangfire is closer to the post-grunge sound that helped destroy the careers of countless ’80s glam bands — Tigertailz included.

This 5-piece hard rock band theFALLEN from York have already impressed HTF with their live presence a few years back on their tour with Heaven’s Basement, and with their brand new album being released earlier this week, we’re itching to find out whether they can do the same on CD.
‘Ignite The Fire’ kicks off the album to a spookily climatic start, with the use of electronics and synthesisers to create an album battlefield-like primer, shortly followed by the heavy double bass and thudding guitars.
Then ‘Judgement Day’ begins, and the wild 80?s sounding guitars kick in, with its melodic riffs and the crash of the drum setting the ultimate party mood. Vocalist Johnny Fallen adds a mixture of Jettblack, Heaven’s Basement and The Treatment influences to the band. With a tad of Avenged Sevenfold in there to top it all off. With the reckless guitars and raunchy baselines, it’s hard not to like this album.

AUSTRALIAN POWERHOUSE LAURA WILDE IS CRASHING TED NUGENT’S NORTH AMERICAN TOUR – JUNE 2012
The ferocious debut—Sold My Soul—from Laura Wilde, the 22-year old hard rock import from Down Under (Melbourne, to be exact) was enough to land her on the upcoming Ted Nugent tour. Wilde is exactly that. She’s a hard-charging take-no-prisoners balls-to-the-wall rocker who wrote it all, sang it all, played lead guitar, bass guitar and drums on this, her gritty, powerful debut. Totally fearless, citing such influences as Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Joan Jett, and Dave Grohl, Wilde intends to knock out crowds on her leg of the upcoming tour.

“Are you ready Steve? Uh-huh. Andy? Yeah. Mick? Okay. Alright fellas, let’s go!”
It started with a press release arriving at Dangerdog HQ: (The) Sweet were releasing a new album of cover songs. There was name I hadn’t heard in decades. Much to my surprise The Sweet still exists. It seems guitarist Andy Scott has been reanimating the band in some form since 1984. (It appears that bassist Steve Priest, another original member, leads an alternate Sweet out of Los Angeles). Scott and company cut SweetLife in 2002. Now, here’s the real kicker: all this brought back a singular memory. I saw Sweet open for Foghat in 1978 at the Hershey Park Arena in Pennsylvania.

On April 17, the unsung hero of working class rock and AOR, John Taglieri, released an EP called “Lucky #9” (Leap Dog Music). In his own words, he states, “I approached this EP a little differently. Being my ninth release, I think I am more in tune with what I wanted to say as an artist. I wrote songs that really meant a lot to me right now in life and tried to tell stories that would connect. Using my new studio and working with Lee [Lee J. Turner, who has production credits that include Darius Rucker, Jewel, Leann Rimes, and Bo Bice] again was awesome as well. There was a great vibe throughout the whole recording process. I’m very proud of ‘Lucky #9’, and I hope people enjoy it.”
