Already formed back in 2005, it took this Swedish band a rather long time to release this debut album. The first orchestral and fast part and growl at the beginning of the song “Wherever I Go” sets you on the wrong path. It sounds like a start of a new Dimmu Borgir album, but after 10 seconds you hear the style you can expect on the rest of the album; melodic power metal in the vain of Helloween, Kamelot and Symphony X.

Australia’s Taipan originally formed way back in 1979, after a few EP’s and demo’s the band disbanded all the way to around 2006/7 and are now on the fourth of the reunion releases. METAL MACHINE is a collection of straight cut Heavy Metal, no-frills although boasting youthful energy that would belie the band’s age. Everything across the album has a decidedly ´classic` type of feel, from the riffs to the solos this is all by the book which was started in the seventies and fleshed out over the eighties.
