In 1988, he formed Heaven Seven, embracing a fresh blend of melodic AOR, glam rock, and synth-pop aimed at a younger Christian audience. Inspired by bands like White Heart, Stryper, and Michael W. Smith, the band recorded their debut album Rise in 1990.
