JERRY STRANGELAND – AOR Music from the ’80s
We are presenting JERRY STRANGELAND, a band absolutely inspired by ’80s AOR. A solo project by singer, songwriter and musician Zherikhov Alexey (pictured above) from Russia. All started from Alexey’s love for the sound of classic American AOR acts, and after composing his own songs with English lyrics, he assembled a full band in 2019 and recorded the initial demos.
JERRY STRANGELAND performed some live gigs but then the global pandemic put all things on pause. Anyway, the band continued recording in one way or another, and we have here many of the wonderful tunes they have already finished / demoed between 2019 / 2021.
All are home-made recordings, but nicely produced and mixed > real musicians, real instruments (this is pre-AI), real guitars, drums, bass, lots of synths of course, and Alexey’s husky vocals.
Musically “AOR Music from the ’80s” is Robert Tepper meets Stan Meissner, but all ’80s melodies, hooks and atmospheres from the classy era are present here. Currently JERRY STRANGELAND is on hiatus, let’s hope they start the engines again and record a proper album.
