JOHN PARR – St. Elmo’s Fire (Man In Motion) [UK 12” w/Non Album Track] (1985) + Extras, MP3+FLAC

This one is for ’80 freaks & collectors: the UK 12” vinyl maxi-single of JOHN PARR‘s ”St. Elmo’s Fire (Man In Motion)”, including a non-album track never appeared into any other release. Alongside the title track and the song ‘Treat Me Like An Animal’ from Parr’s debut album, there’s the exclusive B-side ”Making Love With A Stranger”. Sound quality is very good.

And as extras we added some John Parr rarities, such as the ’80s song “The Best”. Also known as ‘The Best A Man Can Get’, the track was penned by Parr as soundtrack / single for a Gillette razor ad during the Eighties, never before released until Parr himself put our the standalone single some years ago. Written by Parr in collaboration with Jake Holmes (author of Zeppelin’s Dazed & Confused), the song / commercial made a great impact worldwide, turning ‘Gillette Activa’ the best selling razor of its time. If you like the typical AOR tune with an ‘Eighties soundtrack feel’ you must have this song, specially recommended for workout / bodybuilding!
Also here there’s an acoustic version of ”St. Elmo’s Fire”, the single ‘Man of Steel’ Parr released a decade ago, and a re-recording of the 1984 hit ‘Naughty, Naughty’.

In 2014 Parr recorded “St. Elmo’s Fire (Unplugged 2014)”. The song, used for the movie of the same name, was originally written by Canadian hit-maker David Foster in honor to Paralympian athlete Rick Hansen who in 1985 began a 26-month, 34-country wheelchair trek to raise money and awareness for spinal injuries.
He called it the ‘Man In Motion Tour’, and Parr along with Foster re-wrote the song with the lyrics reworked to be featured in the movie. That’s why the track is subtitled “St. Elmo’s Fire (Man In Motion)”
But there’s more: “Naughty, Naughty”, the hit from Parr’s debut album has been as well re-recorded by John, a home made recording, but fun.
“Man of Steel” was written by Parr inspired by the story of Steve Prescott’s brave fight with cancer, and The Steve Prescott Foundation. Touching lyrics and AOR feeling in the music.
