NIGHT RANGER – Japan Tour ’83 , MP3 Version
Our most beloved bands from the ’70s & ’80s are announcing farewell tours. As example, a few months ago Cheap Trick, Winger and Night Ranger are all planning to say goodbye to Japan in 2025, with final tours for the Far East island country, which has played an important role in each of their careers.
Night Ranger’s farewell to Japan doesn’t appear to be part of any overall retirement plans, as none of the promotion for their upcoming North American tour dates has included any mention of it being fans’ last chance to see the group. But the band has shared social media posts from Japanese promoter Udo Artists announcing “The Goodbye Tour,” which will find Night Ranger performing Oct. 14 at Osaka’s Grand Cube and Oct. 16 at Tokyo’s Nippon Budokan.
With our recent posts of NIGHT RANGER Eighties studio albums, some of you asked for the band’s rare material. While the group has several official Live albums, there’s a little gem screaming for a release: ”Japan Tour ’83”.
And we say ‘release’ as ”Japan Tour ’83” never has been released as audio CD, nor vinyl or digital download. ”Japan Tour ’83” video – exclusively appeared in Japan, 1984 – was only available on Videodisc / Laserdisc (remember those?), a video recorded live at Shinjuku Kosei-Nenkin Hall in Tokyo on December 13, 1983.
Later was reissued on DVD, but not as standalone audio CD. Well, here’s the complete audio with very good sound quality (this is not the raw bootleg floating the net).
”Japan Tour ’83” is Night Ranger at their prime, melodic but hell-rocking, featuring songs from their first two albums (‘Midnight Madness’ released a few weeks earlier), very well performed – as usual with this band – and professionally recorded / mixed.
