Tired of Iron Maiden turning into a progressive metal band? Longing for their old sound in new clothes? Willing to listen to an album sung in obscure language such as Hungarian? Feel like traveling, adventuring, going out with hot chicks?Then this is the album you need. This is how Iron Maiden would sound if they haven’t ventured into progmetal waters in past years (or even decades? Time really flies…). Very fine heavy (sometimes also power) metal made in Hungary, even though this is just a kind of side project of Kalapács and Wisdom members, and not a regular band. But I think these guys should definitely keep pushing this project on and on – I wish there would be more heavy metal bands as good as Ego (or Ego Project, as they also call themselves).Oh and by the way, you don’t need to be afraid of Hungarian language – this is a 2-disc album with the same content on both, but CD1 has Hungarian lyrics while CD2 has English lyrics. Really, this is how dedicated these guys are, trying to comfort all kinds of fans. It’s also a very tricky thing to do – they made me listen to the same album twice in a row, which is normally impossible even for the best of the my best albums. But I think I’ll be adding this one to my top 2010 list anyway, so it’s not like it was a wasted time. Check this out if you like some classic heavy metal.

ValSans, founded 2002, is a traditional Heavy Metal band from Austria. They have opened shows for both national and international acts like U.D.O., Sabaton, Grave Digger, Iron Savior, Bullet, Enforcer, Skyclad and Nocturnal Rites.
ValSans perform traditional Heavy Metal from fast riffs to epic vocal and guitar parts combined with powerful drums and catchy melodies. Due to their diversified songs and energetic live performances ValSans become an up-and-coming Power Metal Band.
In 2004 ValSans release their first demo EP “Dawn of Metal”. Due to the big demand, three pressing are sold out. Moreover, ValSans perform many shows, both national and abroad, and become well-known for their fantastic and intensive live performance. Their songs “Born to see the Light” and “Dawn of Metal” have become very popular and are now an inherent part of their live shows.
Besides, their live activities, ValSans work on their first full length album released as a limited promotional version in 2010. In addition to the ten songs, the video for the song “Eyes of a Viper” goes on air. The response to the album is overwhelming and ValSans signs worldwide record deal with Pure Steel Records. In April 2011 the new album is released with a name that says it all – SWORD.

Dawson Smith – Took The Night (2012)
Based in Leicester, UK for over twenty years, Dawson Smith is originally from South Wales and has a well earned reputation for fronting great bands and rockin’ venues all over the UK and beyond. Dawson first made his name as the frontman / songwriter of blues rockers The Healers during the 90’s.
Following The Healers split, Dawson recorded two successful solo albums, Valley Boy (2002) and The River Road (2005). Plenty of gigging followed, playing with a flexible band line up. In 2005 Dawson put together THE DISSENTERS with the intention of forming his dream ‘road band’ able to deliver the type of drivin’ swamp blues, roots and Americana bar room rock & roll that has always been the backdrop to Dawson’s distinctive songs. Now there is a new album on the way: ‘Took The Night’ is a collection of 11 brand new Dawson songs, recorded with The Dissenters and a host of guest musicians, and tonight celebrates its launch. Special guests making an appearance and featuring on the album include Sally Barker, Mick Ridgway, Lee Spreadbury, Caroline O’Donnell, Talulah Blue, Gaz Birtles and the Mexicali Brass.
