QUEEN – ACOUSTIC 2025

Especially compiled and overseen by Brian May & Roger Taylor, here’s the latest of QUEEN’s thematic series compilations made in association with UMG Recordings – ”QUEEN – ACOUSTIC” – grouping songs in the same musical style from the band’s 3-decade career catalog.

“We were looking at all the songs we had, and we just thought the one thing we didn’t have was one of those little acoustic things… I just said, ‘Brian, why don’t we just think of something right here?’, and that song just evolved in about two days, he just got on acoustic, and I just sat next to him, we just worked it together.” Freddie Mercury on ‘Is This The World We Created?’

QUEEN always has been an ‘electric band’, except for Freddie’s piano, however they wrote and recorded some really good acoustic-based songs. This new volume “ACOUSTIC” compile the best of them. As said, these are ”acoustic based”, but bass is always electric, with occasional May electric guitar thru amps too.
Of course present here is the underrated little gem ‘The Night Comes Down’ from QUEEN’s first album, in its excellent remix version. A song rarely mentioned as favorite – so it’s great to have it here to re-discover this pearl. “39” is great one from the good old times, and also appear here a favorite of mine, ‘Some Day One Day’, deep-cut from the glorious Queen II.

Another song you need to re-experience is “Leaving Home Ain’t Easy”, a folk-rock tune written by Brian May, who also performed all lead and backing vocals on the track, released in 1978 on their album Jazz. The song’s production features May’s distinctive guitar work including a mellow “string” tone and sped-up vocal effects in the bridge, to create its unique atmosphere. Simple and incredible song. This man is so talented that it hurts.
