SOUTHBOUND BERETTA – Sun’s Out Guns Out (2025)
Operating in the underground of the American classic hard rock scene, SOUTHBOUND BERETTA has been making noise across 12 states stretching from the East Coast to the Midwest from major festivals to roadhouses and everything in between.
Their goal is bring back no-nonsense rock & roll to the masses.
Combining influences from classic rock legends such as AC/DC and Thin Lizzy with more modern bands like Pantera or Airbourne, their music is raw and restless. This powerhouse is bringing back the unapologetic energy that made rock music so electrifying in the first place.
They ask – What happened to guitar solos in Rock? – We want them back, so we’re bringing them back. Are you tired of the overproduced, watered-down rock music that’s been flooding the airwaves? Well, get ready to have your faith in genuine, hard-hitting rock & roll restored by Southbound Beretta.
These guys rock indeed, hard, in brash vibrant flavors. The band’s new album ”Sun’s Out Guns Out” just rocks – none of all these extra bells and whistle – Guitars, Bass, Vocals, and bashing Drums.
Opener ‘Roadrunner’ puts the pedal to the metal from the get-go, it creates a whirlwind of throwback Hard Rock that’s both catchy and hard hitting with its grooves. The broken ‘Shallow Sharks’ is dirty and with angry lyrics, the melodic yet heavy ‘Gator Queen’ brings to mind later day Skid Row, then ‘Sheepdog’ turns almost power metal with double bass and gravelly vocals but then shifts very melodic in the chorus.
‘Ft. Slaughterdale’ has a steady groove, infectious riffs and a nice little bridge breakdown, a perfect example of what the band is all about and everything on the track works perfectly to encapsulate that. “LANK” is four minutes of no holds barred Rock. The track continues the frantic groove set before it and blazes forward in its riffs and melodic vocals.
‘Full Throttle’ makes justice to its title and features some outrageous guitar riffs that need to be heard to be believed. Parental Advisory lyrics too. ‘The Run’ has a different vibe, with a Buckcherry feel to it mixed with Black Label Society swirl guitar work, while ‘Motel Miami’ wraps things up nicely and doesn’t hold back whatsoever with their signature sound.
Southbound Beretta is a really interesting band – they rock with a vintage feel indeed, but sound modern at the same time. ”Sun’s Out Guns Out” is wild, bold, showcasing the vision from a band doing what they want, the way they want – they don’t care about radio hits, most of the songs would be banned ‘cos its lyrics – and certainly kicks you in the face with their punchy riffs.
