STOCKS – Trois 2025

This reissue (on the excellent French label Bad Reputation) of Stocks’s album, originally released in 2002, is huge!
And since this label doesn’t do things by halves and only offers the best of the best, you’re treated to a new mastering, a complete booklet (exclusive photos!) with a bio, lyrics, and an interview. This is blues-rock packed with guitars and powerful lyrics.

This hellish trio, which is blowing the controls out of the water here, is composed of the brilliant Christophe Marquilly on guitar and vocals, accompanied by Fred Nicolle on bass and Fabrice Trovato on drums. Wikipedia gave them a new lease on life between 1980 and 2007, but since their return to the Vouziers Festival in October 2024, where they covered their classics (La Tête à l’envers, J’vais craquer, Fallait que j’te dise), they’ve decided to hit the road again by revisiting the band’s classics. And to celebrate their return, they’re reissuing their third album of 11 tracks, their most accomplished to date. Each concert reveals a tight-knit band, eager to share over an hour of musical travel between Lille and Chicago. Their original discography already included a cassette recorded in December 1980 at the Palais des Sports Saint-Sauveur in Lille and an album recorded on February 12, 1982, at the same venue. Proof, if any were needed, that these were true stage beasts. This isn’t surprising when you consider that Christophe Marquilly is a fan of Rory Gallagher, ZZ Top, and Johnny Winter. Stocks, a band that also wanted to distinguish itself by using the names of French bands of the time, Triangle, Martin Circus, and Variations. With Stocks offering some killer heavy blues-rock!
