TONY LIDDLE (Strangeways) – Heart’s Desire [10th Anniversary Ltd. Edition +5 bonus] 2009

As requested, here’s ”Heart’s Desire”, the solo album from Scottish singer / songwriter TONY LIDDLE recorded during 1986-1988. TONY LIDDLE is, of course, the original STRANGEWAYS vocalist, heard in the band’s first 1985 album utilizing the name Tony Liddell. Previously he was frontman for SERGEANT, and later TYGERS OF PAN TANG, LIDELL / RUSH / THRALL, and more.

A private release with only a few copies made in 1988, later ”Heart’s Desire” was officially released in the Nineties, also a very limited CD pressing. This is ‘‘Heart’s Desire [10th Anniversary Ltd. Edition +5]”, reissued by Target Records Germany in 2009 including bonus tracks.
After leaving STRANGEWAYS, TONY LIDDLE started a solo career establishing in Germany and recorded his first songs in 1986 produced by magician Robert Papst (DOMINOE), and others in Switzerland, utilizing local melodic rock musicians.

In 1987 LIDDLE flew to New Jersey, and recorded more songs with PREVIEW musicians Ernie & Danny Gold writing and performing, with talented Canadian Phil Naro also co-writing. Then in 1988 Tony recorded more songs in England with guitarist Steve Lamb (TYGERS OF PAN TANG).
”Heart’s Desire [10th Anniversary Ltd. Edition +5]” comprises all these recordings, and as you may expect, this is pure ’80s AOR / Melodic Rock, with a couple of Hi-Tech AOR tunes. All are demos yet with fine sound quality. The bonus tracks are very good too, from an unreleased 1986 album and some 1994 sessions.
Love this stuff, Tony’s voice is smooth and melodious, and it’s great to hear some unreleased PREVIEW songs as well.
