Polymer Records is honoring TRIXTER 1992’s great second album with a limited edition release. Executive producers Adam Reiver and Steve Brown have remastered “Hear! 35th Anniversary Edition” for vinyl, ensuring fans can experience the band’s iconic sound in all its glory.

This collector’s item signed by Trixter members Steve Brown & P. J. Farley is pressed on two separate vinyls (one red, the other blue, sleeves with unseen pics of the band) to give the music room to breathe. Sound quality is very analog-like, warm, rich in harmonics mid-frequencies – true sweet spot.

Trixter’s “Hear” is an underrated gem from the tail end of the glam metal / hard rock era. While it didn’t achieve the massive commercial success of their 1990 self-titled debut, “Hear” is musically deeper, more mature, and shows significant growth in songwriting and musicianship.
The record moves beyond the pop-metal sheen of their debut into a more guitar-driven, slightly heavier and blues-influenced direction. Steve Brown’s guitar work & songwriting is more diverse and inventive, and PJ Farley’s bass tone punches through with more confidence. Songs like the anthemic “Road of a Thousand Dreams,” “Runaway Train,” and “As the Candle Burns” show emotional range and a band growing into itself.

Unfortunately, ”Hear!” was released October 1992 during the rise of grunge. Bands like Trixter got unfairly pushed aside by labels and media. Despite the strong songwriting and performances, it didn’t get the push it deserved from the industry.
Among melodic hard rock fans, “Hear!” is considered a cult classic—a favorite for those who dig deeper than the MTV singles. Musicians and rock aficionados often cite the album as a hidden treasure of early ’90s melodic hard rock.
Trixter’s “Hear!” isn’t just a good follow-up—it’s a fantastic hard rock record with heart, grit, and great songs that deserved a much better shot. If released a few years earlier, it might’ve been a huge hit.
This is a welcomed release, we largely prefer this 2-vinyl LP over the CD output.
