UNRULY CHILD – S/T [Music On CD reissue] (2025), MP3+FLAC, FAKE!!!

ITS FAKE! After a wonderful album with short lived act Signal, superb singer Mark Free joined UNRULY CHILD at the dawn of the 90s. The original lineup featured singer Free, Bruce Gowdy (guitarist – Stone Fury, World Trade), and Guy Allison (keyboardist – Lodgic, World Trade, The Doobie Brothers) together with drummer – Jay Schellen (Hurricane, World Trade, Original Asia), and bassist – Larry Antonino (Pablo Cruise, Air Supply Music).

A super melodic hard rock combo for sure, Unruly Child debuted with their self-titled release on Interscope / Atlantic in 1992. Slightly heavier than Signal, but still oozing with melodies to die for, this self-titled debut album by Unruly Child is one of the greatest exponents from the genre.
Now ”Unruly Child” is being reissued by Music On CD, a welcomed re-release as every home should have one.
Produced by expert Beau Hill, Unruly Child soars with the superb lead vocals of Mark Free, the sublime guitar work of Gowdy, the fantastic sweeping keyboards by Guy Allison… and the songs, wow!!

After a scintillating opener “On The Rise” and a pretty scorching follow up with “Take Me Down Nasty”, the album takes a melodic AOR variation with a some real gems in ”Who Cries Now”, ”Tunnel Of Love”, ”When Love Is Gone”.
“Is It Over” is a real tear-jerker if ever and one of the best ever AOR / MHR ballads ever. In fact, pretty much everything are sharp dressed numbers with big choruses and huge bgv. And they wrap this terrific CD with midtempo “Long Hair Woman” where the band explores more atmospheric, almost progressive territories.

As said, a much needed reissue, an ESSENTIAL Melodic Hard Rock / AOR album.
