We already have the very good Rock Candy remasters of the first two albums, ‘Pull’ never has been remastered until now but sounds great, and Frontiers Music already released a “Demo Anthology” – so fans will already have these. There’s no bonus tracks.
So what’s the point of this box set? According to the label – these are “the only remasters approved by Kip Winger”. The new remastering job was done by famous Ted Jensen – check any of your ’80s favorite albums and chances are the man was involved.
Sound quality? Winger (1988) now has a rounded bottom end, In The Heart Of The Young (1990) a defined Kip bass and snare, while Pull (1993) sounds great as usual, perhaps more crisp on the vocals.
“Chapter One / Atlantic Years 1988-1993” worth every cent. It’s great to have all classic Winger into one package. And there’s the vinyl option for fans of the format.
